Characteristics of Chromolaena Odorata

 

• The seeds are light that makes it easier to spread by wind or water in short distance

• The seeds has a papus hair which makes it easier to attach to animal's fur or feather (which can spread through other areas), also it can be attached to people.

• When the leaves or the stems are crushed it gives a strong odor which makes the animals avoid the plants. (toxic to animals, which can cause diarrhea or death)

• Native forest was able to regenerate and outcompete the population of Chromolaena Odorata if an adequate seed bank of tree species remained
